www.ceig.org
is all you need from now on!
On 13 November 2001 we were pleased to launch our Web-site so you now do not need to wait another 12 months for the next news of our activities!
This report and our accounts for 2001 can be found in the history part of the Web-site. (*)

Website Our new Website is the biggest event in CEIG's history since we became ecumenical. It provides members with:

  • up-to-date information on Group activities,
  • a library of reference material specifically aimed at ethical investment in Christian organisations and by Christians,
  • resumes of meetings shortly after they have taken place,
  • a quick response to queries on ethical investment, and
  • links to sites sponsored by our Corporate Members.

Please let us know what you think about the web-site and how we might improve it.
Just e-mail us at info@ceig.org
Thanks to Stephen Dunham for all his hard work on the Web

Annual Meeting 17th March 2001
'Globalisation : Friend or Foe ?' A well attended meeting discussed some of the difficult issues on Globalisation which proved to be the hot topic of 2001. We were ably led by Rob Lake of Henderson Investment Managers, Duncan Green of Traidcraft, and Mark Oxbrow of the Church Mission Society. Bill Whiffen gave us a theological insight and I looked, from my experience with an international cement company, of the market forces at work in the 21st century.

Defence : Following the session in November 2000 where there had been some concerns over changes in the Church of England's approach to armaments. A lunch discussion at the York General Synod resulted in an Open letter being sent to the EIAG (Ethical Investment Advisory Group).
Please see the Web-site for a copy- What's going on ?.(*)

Can Bosses be made more accountable ? was the subject of the November Open meeting. Anne-Maree O'Connor from Morley Fund management and Gavin Oldham led through the issues involved in making companies ensure that their senior management are properly rewarded for success and made accountable for failure.

The Roman Catholic Sub-group under the Chairmanship of Eaver McMahon met twice. The questionnaire to all English and Welsh dioceses was superseded by work done by Pax Christi and the results are on the Web-site. EI policies Consideration is being given to get the National Justice and Peace Network to encourage a stronger ethical investment policy nationally within the Roman Catholic Church.

Our accounts for the year show £520 excess of receipts over payments principally because of costs delayed from 2000 and the initial set-up of the Web-site. The Executive Committee intends to use its accumulated funds in further development of the Web-site.

The Committee met four times in the year with an average attendance of 7. Those who served during the year were Paul Brett, Darryll Candy, Stephen Dunham (Webmaster), Alistair Hanton, Eaver McMahon Gavin Oldham (Vice-Chair), Patricia Raikes, and myself as Chair. We are pleased to welcome Jane Addison, our new Treasurer, and Ian Gascoine as new Council members having been elected at our 2001 Annual Meeting.
