STEWARDSHIP
The Lord said. "..: for the land is mine; for ye are strangers
and sojourners with me"
Leviticus 25 verse 23
For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country,
who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods. Jesus’
parable of the talents
Matthew 25 verse 14
Our duty to exercise responsibility over the resources we have been given
by God.
- Care for the earth Genesis 2 verse 15
Care for the Environment is recognised as an important part of our responsibility.
While some companies – such as energy, mining or building materials
– have an immediate impact on the environment, all companies have some
impact in their use of energy, paper and other consumables.
- Future Generations Psalm 78 verse 6
We need to remember that we hand our stewardship of God’s Creation to
those who follow us.
Therefore we are concerned for sustainability rather than growth – fossil
fuels will run out so we need to provide renewable resources in future;
for the development of energy companies who look to new ways of providing
abundant clean fuel which can go on… and on ….
We must not leave a legacy of problems for the future – that is one
aspect of nuclear energy that gives us cause for concern.
- Generosity : Deuteronomy 15 verse 11
Fairness to all rather than a focus simply on legal owners of an
enterprise. We are concerned that all ‘stakeholders’ in an enterprise
are recognised and not exploited.
